Fabrication, Welding & Engineering Workshop Supply

A fabrication shop is an easy account to judge: did the right grade of wire arrive, and did it arrive when the job was on the bench.

The consumable range is built around that test. Lincoln Electric where the procedure sheet names the consumable and substitution is not an option; Taurus where general fabrication, structural work and repair need a keener price without a drop in reliability. Fast-moving sizes are held in Johannesburg, Nelspruit and Kitwe, and anything else is quoted against a confirmed lead time rather than a hopeful one.

Around the wire sits everything else the bench needs: TIG rods and tungstens, 6013 and 7018 stick electrodes, contact tips, nozzles and liners, cutting and grinding discs, flap discs and burrs, cutting torches, regulators, flashback arrestors and hoses, plus the welding PPE that has to be there before anyone strikes an arc.

Handling matters here too, more than most workshops expect. Crated machinery comes in, long fabricated sections go out, and hot work needs manipulating rather than carrying. Fork clamps, load reach extenders, mechanical attachments and forging manipulators are the families that come up most.

Where we supply it from

Stocked in Johannesburg and Nelspruit for South African fabricators, and in Kitwe for Copperbelt workshops and contractors.

01What this sector brings us

The recurring problems

01

The wrong grade stopping a qualified procedure

Consumables are quoted by grade, diameter and pack size off your line list, so the substitution conversation happens before the order rather than at the bench.

02

Mixed requisitions split across suppliers

Wire, rods, discs, gas consumables, tools and PPE come off one order and one lead time, because Taurus carries the PPE alongside the consumables.

03

Long and awkward work the forks cannot reach

Load reach extenders, jibs and mechanical attachments cover the occasional oversized item without plumbing hydraulics for it.
